"If there is magic on the planet, it is contained
in THE WATER."
~ Loren Eisley
For millennia, people worldwide have used hot springs for their restorative, natural healing and mystical powers. Yukon's Takhini Hot Springs therapeutic value was long recognized by local First Nations. Over the last century, the warm waters have soothed many Yukoners. In recent years, the Yukon Hot Springs Resort (formerly Takhini Hot Springs Resort) has become a popular venue for international and local visitors alike, to bask in the hot pools, and view the awe-inspiring Northern Lights in winter or experience the magic of the Midnight Sun during the summer months.
Yukon Hot Springs Resort's new Aurora Lodge Guest Services facility together with the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs Hot Pools recognizes (in both design and services) that human health is interconnected with environmental health. The new Lodge Guest Centre has been sited to take advantage of views to Takhini Pond, and the local mountain ranges. It has all-weather protected walkway connections to the Eclipse Nordic Hot Pools and to the future Lodge Hotel guest wings.
The Guest Centre's programmed spaces include: an indoor/outdoor family pool, a spa and fitness centre, 100 seat restaurant and associated office, change rooms, showers, lockers, staff and utility areas — all servicing the newly built Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs Onsen Natural Rock Hot Pools and the future Aurora Lodge Hotel.
The Yukon Hot Springs Resort is Canada's most energy-efficient, sustainable green resort. The Guest Centre's design is based on ECOlibirum principles. It employs true geo-thermal heating and other renewable energy efficient design strategies including PVC collectors, grey water separation and water conservation, heat recovery (HRV), recycling, and supergreen envelopes with R100 roof insulation, R48-60 double walls, R40 slab and perimeter insulation, and triple and quadruple high performance windows. The resorts sustainable woodlot feeds a Garn high efficient wood burner, providing supplemental and emergency backup heating.
